When We Were Gods

When we were gods
The likelihood of man's disease diminished.
Forthought becomes an after-play
War trivializes nations

O to be gods
Whereart heaven and earth shake at arrival.
To die the death of kings and princes
To swim the blood of transgression
To never err this side of heaven before wanting all devotion.

The juices of our deeds bring forth offspring.
Maybe they will save us.
Perhaps they will make us human again.

Sometimes...

I fight because I desire peace
I steal because I desire equality
I struggle because I desire rest
I hate because I desire love
I argue because I care
I simplify issues because they're complicated
I cry because it just feels better
I laugh because its just not funny
I hold back because I want to give back
I withdraw because I hurt
I hurt because life simply doesn't make sense

Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. They teach you there's a boundary line to music. But, man, there's no boundary line to art. -Charlie Parker

Rarely do I go for these 'dime-novel' types, but this book has captured my imagination with visions of color, personification, lore and a touch of magic.

Meanwhile, it seems something not quite common has occurred this week. Someone near my place of employment has caught my eye. 'Ah, a love interest!' one might say. However, rarely do I get caught up in the personal pleasures of romantic fantasies. As fun as it has been to entertain such an idea, I am sure it will end as quickly as it began, maybe a bit faster. Love, it seems, is beyond my grasp once again. As much as I understand love in theory, it seems I am not one to experience love realistically. A tragedy...

On a lighter note, I will be practicing my hand at a little drama this Sunday as Saint Nicolaus, the famous Claus. My appearance will serve to entertain about 40 children as well as all the fortunate adults accompanying them at a local clubhouse. As difficult a role as this may be for someone as serious in nature as myself, I always find pleasure in bringing a little cheer to those who bring so much cheer to us.

To those who struggle this time every year, may we find peace in the midst of chaos. To those who find great joy in this season, may we retract our fast pace to notice the little things that we generally overrun during the course of daily life. For those of us who rarely experience love and certainly see very little of it in the activities of others, may we find a truely unnatural phenominom known as grace in the midst of it all.

Ate logo. Ten cuidado e vai com Deus!
